Arthritis can be a scary term for many. The 2 most common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is probably the most common form we come across in treating patients. This is the ‘wear and tear’ that occurs on joint surfaces. It can cause the joint surfaces to become a bit roughened and movement can become stiffer or painful. These conditions respond well to joint mobilisation and manual therapy and regular gentle movement to prevent further stiffness.

Rheumatoid arthritis has an inflammatory component and presents a bit differently to osteoarthritis. It is generally diagnosed by symptoms and blood testing. It responds well to physiotherapy and medical management. We will liaise with your GP or consultant to ensure best treatment.
